Budget Direct public liability insurance is a search term that does not match anything we could find on the Budget Direct website in Australia. This guide sets out what the brand's own pages list, who issues each product, why other pages mislead, and how to complain if you do buy from it. We checked the pages on 3 November 2026. We do not rate or recommend any provider.
Quick answer
Budget Direct's company page and homepage list car, home, travel, pet, motorcycle and life products, and no business or public liability cover. If you need public liability, ask a broker or insurer what they offer.

What Budget Direct's Own Pages List
The company page lists car insurance, home and contents insurance, travel insurance, pet insurance, motorcycle and scooter insurance, life insurance and roadside assistance. The homepage navigation shows the same set. Neither page mentions business insurance, public liability or commercial cover. The homepage uses the word liability only for legal liability cover inside home insurance, which is a household product and not a business policy.
The company page also carries awards and customer review claims. We do not reproduce them, because we do not rate or rank providers. The so what: a brand's marketing is not a product list for a business. If a product is not on the pages, a quote for it should come from somewhere else. Our home insurance guide and personal liability guide explain the household cover that does appear.
Why Budget Direct Public Liability Insurance Pages Can Mislead
Search results can put the brand name and the cover type in the same title without any product behind it. One example is an article titled "Navigating Budget Direct Public Liability Insurance" on the website of Contracts Specialist, a Sydney construction law firm. The article was first published on 20 June 2024 and shows a last modified date of 30 March 2026.
The brand name appears only in its title and metadata. The body describes public liability insurance for construction businesses in general terms, and it describes no Budget Direct policy, price or provider. It is also a promotional page that invites readers to book a consultation. We cite it only as an example of a title that does not match its content.
The so what: read the body of a page, not the headline. If a page says "Budget Direct" in its title and names no product, nothing on it is evidence that the brand sells the cover.
Who Issues Which Budget Direct Product
Budget Direct is a brand, and the legal entity behind a product is named in the documents. The company page sets out which entity issues which product.
| Product | Issuer named on the page | Arranged or administered by |
|---|---|---|
| Car, home and motorcycle | Auto & General Insurance Company Limited | Auto & General Services Pty Ltd |
| Life | NobleOak Life Limited | Not stated |
| Travel | Zurich Australian Insurance Limited | Auto & General Services Pty Ltd, managed by Travel Insurance Partners Pty Limited |
| Pet | Auto & General Insurance Company Limited | Pet Health Insurance Services Pty Ltd, as an authorised representative |
The page gives ABNs and licence numbers for each entity. We do not repeat them, because the safest check is the one you run against your own documents. Match the name on your certificate or schedule to the entity on the APRA register of general insurers. We could not open that register for this guide, so we make no statement about any entity's status. Our providers guide explains how to check an insurer and a broker.
Complaints: What Budget Direct's Page Says
If you hold a Budget Direct product, the company's complaints page sets out a process. It says to contact Budget Direct first, that a complaint not resolved within 5 business days goes to its Customer Disputes Resolution team, and that decisions are due within 30 calendar days, or 21 calendar days for financial hardship complaints. If you cannot agree, you may take the matter to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), and the page says you have two years from the date of Budget Direct's decision.
That process applies to Budget Direct's own products. If you hold a public liability policy from another provider, the position differs. AFCA says it cannot consider public liability in a small business insurance product, though it can consider a broker's conduct in arranging a policy. Our national guide explains the limit. The so what: before you rely on AFCA, ask it whether your complaint is in scope.
Questions to Ask If You Need Public Liability Insurance
If the reason you searched was a contract, lease or licence that asks for public liability, use these questions with any seller you approach.
- Which entity issues the policy, and is it on the APRA register?
- What limit applies, and is it per occurrence or across the year?
- Does the policy meet the wording of my contract or licence?
- Which exclusions touch the work I do?
- Can I get a certificate of currency, and with what dates?
Our certificate guide explains what to expect from the document, and our comparison guide shows how to line up two quotes.
